Keep Wesleyan Growing Through Planned Giving
Did you know you can support Wesleyan without impacting yourself or your loved ones? There are ways you can give while still preserving your assets for retirement and providing for your family.
We all desire significance – to lead happy and fulfilled lives surrounded by family and friends. The search for significance and desire to plan for the future leads many to ponder their legacy. For several decades, the generosity of alumni, family and community partners has sustained North Carolina Wesleyan and helped us grow. Students and faculty depend on the support of private donors who value our unique learning philosophy and programs designed to empower students with the resources needed to enhance their academic and personal development. Our desire is to ensure that it continues for many years.
When you choose to include a gift to NCWU as part of your legacy, you are continuing a tradition that has existed since Wesleyan’s founding in 1956: a tradition to educate young men and women to serve others and follow the Golden Rule itself: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Plain and simple, your legacy gift enables excellence. Choose your legacy today.
PLANNED GIFTS SHAPE THE LEGACY & FUTURE OF WESLEYAN
NC Wesleyan University owes much of its growth, stability, and lasting impact to the generosity of those who’ve included the University in their estate plans. These planned gifts not only honor the lives and values of their donors but also transform the educational experience for generations of students.
One such gift—from the Estate of Anita D. Bobbitt—significantly expanded the John C. and Huldah B. Daughtridge Memorial Scholarship. Established in 1998 in memory of her parents, the scholarship once supported one student per semester. Today, it supports over 10 students each term, prioritizing North Carolina residents with financial need.
Gifts like these continue to shape NCWU as a thriving institution committed to student success, academic excellence, and lasting legacy. Will YOU continue to impact the lives of students?
Ways to Include NC Wesleyan in Your Planning

Life Insurance Gifts
A gift of life insurance is a wonderful way to support our work at a significant level, but at a fraction of the cost of other gifts. If you have an old, unneeded life insurance policy, you can donate it and take an immediate tax deduction. You can also name NC Wesleyan University as a beneficiary of your policy.

Charitable Gift Annuity
Seeing firsthand how a gift changes lives and brings joy to others can change the lives of those that give. A charitable gift can have many benefits beyond just helping Wesleyan. Strategies like the charitable gift annuity, provide many reasons to give.

Bequests
The search for significance and desire to plan for the future leads many to ponder their legacy. What kind of legacy will you leave? A bequest is perhaps the easiest and most tangible way to have a lasting impact on the people and organizations that mean the most to you. A bequest may also be an effective way to make a gift to a charity and lessen the burden of taxes on your family and estate.

Beneficiary Designations
Did you know that it’s easy to designate beneficiaries for assets that are not transferred through a will? Simplify your planning and consider donating part or all of your unused retirement assets, such as your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension, life insurance policy and even bank accounts. It’s a simple and excellent way to make a gift to NC Wesleyan.

QCD-Qualified Charitable Distribution
Consider giving from your IRA directly to North Carolina Wesleyan University without having to pay income taxes. Feel good knowing that you are making a difference at NC Wesleyan. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
Gifts from a Will or Trust
Designating NC Wesleyan as a beneficiary in your will or trust is a simple way to commit to our cause and it does not affect your cash flow during your lifetime. In addition, it’s easy to revoke this type of gift if your situation or goals change.
