Our eighth installment of #BishopLoveStories features the Simons, both from the Class of 1997! Rob and Emily are yet another set of college sweethearts who met during their Wesleyan experience. 💙![]()

"We met at North Carolina Wesleyan in our junior year. Rob was a member of the men’s soccer team, while I transferred to play for the women's basketball team. Both of us were physical education majors.![]()

We met when Rob had a role as a student athletic trainer for the women’s basketball team. After we started dating he was quickly reassigned to the men’s basketball team. However, a twist of fate brought us even closer. When both goalkeepers on the women’s soccer team were injured, Coach D called on Emily to step in as goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Rob played goalkeeper for the men’s team. Training together strengthened our connection.![]()

By our senior year, we were engaged and we married in 1998 in Florida. Now, we are teachers in Navarre, Florida, with three adult children. Rob teaches Honors Anatomy and Physiology and Honors Biology and is the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Navarre High School. I am a kindergarten teacher at West Navarre Primary School. We often reflect on how our time at NCWU shaped our relationship and laid the foundation for our family."![]()
