FULL-TIME Faculty Positions
Assistant Professor of Business
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position(s) at the rank of Assistant Professor of Business starting August 2025. We are seeking dynamic generalist(s) who can connect well with our undergraduate business students. The successful candidate(s) should demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching excellence, be well-versed in the appropriate use of technology, and be ready to contribute to innovative curriculum development and delivery.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in business specializing in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership or appropriate related credential
- ABD candidates with teaching experience and/or candidates with a terminal degree and extensive business or healthcare sector experience may be considered
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Evidence of prior teaching excellence at the university level
- NCWU is especially interested in candidates with a strong academic or professional background in healthcare administration and ability to contribute to an undergraduate B.S. Healthcare Administration program
Responsibilities:
- Teaching load of 24 credits per academic year (adjustable based on other responsibilities)
- Teaching responsibilities may include courses offered in person, online, and in hybrid modalities

Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Information Systems. We seek a scholar strongly committed to teaching and mentoring students in cybersecurity, database systems, data science and application development. Assistant Professor of Exercise Science – Undergraduate Program
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science appointment beginning in August 2025. Responsibilities include teaching various core classes at the undergraduate level, ranging from introductory to advanced exercise physiology courses, directing the Lab of Applied Physiology (LAP), promoting program growth and academic quality, supervising student interns, and serving on internal committees. Faculty are expected to engage students through the use of both traditional and innovative instructional strategies. A regular load at North Carolina Wesleyan University is 12 undergraduate hours per semester but may vary based on the teaching load in the graduate program.
Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in Exercise Science or a closely related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered but must have obtained a Ph.D. by August 2025. Previous college or university-level teaching experience is strongly preferred, particularly in kinesiology and biomechanics, exercise testing and prescription, and strength and conditioning. An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) certification is highly desirable. Evidence of scholarly activities, such as submission of peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations, is also desirable.

Assistant Professor of Exercise Science – Graduate Program
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science appointment beginning in August 2025. Responsibilities may include teaching kinesiology and biomechanics, data science and analytics, and strength and conditioning at the Master of Science in Human Performance and Sports Science (MS-HPSS) graduate program that has been approved and will start in Fall 2025. The candidate is also expected to promote program growth and academic quality, supervise student research and interns, and serve on internal committees. Faculty are expected to engage students through the use of both traditional and innovative instructional strategies. A regular load at North Carolina Wesleyan University is 9 graduate credit hours per semester but may vary based on the teaching load in the undergraduate program (normally 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester).
Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in Exercise Science or a closely related field is required. Previous college or university-level graduate teaching experience is strongly preferred, particularly in kinesiology and biomechanics, data science and analytics, and strength and conditioning. A National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) or willingness to attain CSCS certification within the first year required and Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) certification is highly desirable. Professor of Public Health (Open Rank)
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a 9-month appointment as a tenured/tenure-track professor (rank open) of Public Health beginning in August 2025. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching a variety of foundational public health classes at the graduate and undergraduate level; advising and mentoring students; promoting program growth and academic quality; supervising student interns, and serving on internal committees. While the area of specialization is open, we seek candidates with strong grounding in health equity and community health. Experience with public health nutrition, health care administration, and/or public health programming and evaluation would be a significant plus.
All North Carolina Wesleyan faculty are expected to engage students using pedagogically sound traditional and innovative instructional strategies. Public Health courses are delivered in both face-to-face and asynchronous online formats. A regular load at North Carolina Wesleyan University is 12 hours per semester, which may vary based on the distribution of teaching load across the graduate and undergraduate programs.
Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in Public Health, or closely related field, is required. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have obtained a doctorate degree by August 2025. Assistant Professor/Instructor of Nursing
North Carolina Wesleyan University (NCWU) invites application for faculty position(s) in Nursing. NCWU plans to hire both full-time and part-time nursing faculty to fill didactic and clinical roles in a planned prelicensure BSN program.
Through grant funding and extensive community and institutional support, NCWU is in the process of developing a traditional prelicensure BSN program, with plans to accept prelicensure students as soon as Fall 2025. The university currently hosts a successful RN-to-BSN program and is now seeking to expand our program offerings for nursing with a formal application to the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) for new programs currently in progress.
The successful candidate(s) will engage students in a variety of classroom and clinical settings. In addition to pedagogy and/or supervision, responsibilities may include academic advising, supervising undergraduate research, providing service to the university, and completing assessment and accreditation functions. A doctoral degree is preferred, but Masters educated or ABD candidates will be considered if their degrees and experience is commensurate with particular duties. Other qualifications sought include:
- Experienced nurse educator(s) with relevant clinical experience
- Unencumbered/unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina, a compact state licensure, or eligibility for RN licensure in NC.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a working RN.
- BLS certification.
- Certification as a nurse educator preferred, but not required.
- Experience with accrediting nursing programs through external accreditors and licensing agencies would be considered a plus.
- An appointment to a more senior rank may be considered for those who have achieved tenure at another institution.

ADJUNCT Faculty Positions
