FULL-TIME Faculty Positions
Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Information Systems. We seek a scholar strongly committed to teaching and mentoring students in cybersecurity, database systems, data science and application development. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs by actively engaging in teaching, scholarly activities, and professional service. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems or a related field and have a strong record teaching both face-to-face and online. ADB candidates with teaching experience will be considered. The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A solid commitment to teaching excellence and student mentorship is expected. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments. The regular teaching load at North Carolina Wesleyan is 4/4. Other responsibilities include academic advising, supervising student research projects, and service to the university.

Assistant Professor of Health Care Administration
The School of Business at North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for applications for 9-month faculty position(s) at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor starting August 2025. This will be a term contract position with the possibility of an initial appointment up to three years.
Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic instructor who can offer both general and specialized courses in the field. The successful candidate will serve as a faculty member in the University’s Healthcare Administration (B.S.) degree track and may be affiliated with and teaching in NCWU’s B.S.N. program, Masters of Public Health program, Organizational Leadership program, or an other appropriate field if graduate degrees, professional credentials, or demonstrated experience align with those needs.
In addition to a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, the successful candidate should be well-versed in the appropriate use of technology and employing instructional technologies to provide courses through multiple modes of delivery. The successful candidate(s) should also be prepared to contribute to innovative curriculum development, including potential new undergraduate and graduate programs. Candidates seeking to develop strong interdisciplinary tracks in healthcare related fields and campus-community connections are encouraged to apply.
North Carolina Wesleyan faculty are expected to develop strong relationships with colleagues, inspire and advise students, and demonstrate a high level of organization and habits of transparent and timely communication. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester, but there are adjustments for faculty members with administrative responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include engaging in research/scholarship or other appropriate professional activities, remaining current in the field(s) of specialization, and engaging in service to the department, university, and broader communities. We seek professionals who are thoughtful and creative leaders who can add immediate value to a growth-oriented institution that is committed to innovation in the complex environment of private higher education.
Education
The following combinations of education and experience may qualify potential candidates:
- Terminal degree in business management, healthcare management, public policy, or public administration (Ph.D., D.B.A. or equivalent); OR
- MPH or MBA degree with a background in the healthcare administration field; OR
- Terminal degree within any healthcare field and practical experience in health care management and administration (e.g. M.D., D.O., D.C., D.N.P., D.M.D. or equivalent).
Candidates with a graduate degree and equivalent management experience in the healthcare administration field (e.g., 5+ years of work experience at a management level in the healthcare industry) that might be deemed equivalent to the terminal degree are also encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to individuals with evidence of prior university teaching experience, graduate coursework, and/or research in any of the following needed subfields: healthcare administration, strategic leadership in the healthcare field, health care policy, and/or economics or analytics in the healthcare sector.

Professor of Public Health (Open Rank)
Professor of Public Health (Open Rank)
North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a 9-month appointment as a tenured/tenure-track professor (rank open) of Public Health beginning in August 2025. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching a variety of foundational public health classes at the graduate and undergraduate level; advising and mentoring students; promoting program growth and academic quality; supervising student interns, and serving on internal committees. While the area of specialization is open, we seek candidates with strong grounding in health equity and community health. Experience with public health programming and evaluation, epidemiology, and/or public health nutrition would be a significant plus.
All North Carolina Wesleyan faculty are expected to engage students using pedagogically sound traditional and innovative instructional strategies. Public Health courses are delivered in both face-to-face and asynchronous online formats. A regular load at North Carolina Wesleyan University is 12 hours per semester, which may vary based on the distribution of teaching load across the graduate and undergraduate programs.
Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, or closely related field, is required. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have obtained a doctorate degree by August 2025. Previous college or university-level teaching experience, particularly in the areas of public health policy, public health nutrition, epidemiology, and/or program planning, implementation, and evaluation is strongly preferred. Evidence of scholarly activities such as peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations is highly desirable.

ADJUNCT Faculty Positions
NCWU employs part-time adjunct faculty to teach courses through the Rocky Mount Day program and also our Adult & Professional Studies Program at other campus locations or online.
Rocky Mount Day Program Openings
Adjunct courses taught through the Rocky Mount Day program are offered during daytime hours in the traditional semester format.

Adult & Professional Studies courses are generally offered in an 8-week or 5-week, accelerated format through evening classes.
