Assistant Professor/Instructor of Nursing

North Carolina Wesleyan University (NCWU) invites application for faculty position(s) in Nursing. NCWU plans to hire both full-time and part-time nursing faculty to fill didactic and clinical roles in a planned prelicensure BSN program.

Through grant funding and extensive community and institutional support, NCWU is in the process of developing a traditional prelicensure BSN program, with plans to accept prelicensure students as soon as Fall 2025. The university currently hosts a successful RN-to-BSN program and is now seeking to expand our program offerings for nursing with a formal application to the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) for new programs currently in progress.

The successful candidate(s) will engage students in a variety of classroom and clinical settings. In addition to pedagogy and/or supervision, responsibilities may include academic advising, supervising undergraduate research, providing service to the university, and completing assessment and accreditation functions. A doctoral degree is preferred, but Masters educated or ABD candidates will be considered if their degrees and experience is commensurate with particular duties. Other qualifications sought include:

  • Experienced nurse educator(s) with relevant clinical experience
  • Unencumbered/unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina, a compact state licensure, or eligibility for RN licensure in NC.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a working RN.
  • BLS certification.
  • Certification as a nurse educator preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with accrediting nursing programs through external accreditors and licensing agencies would be considered a plus.
  • An appointment to a more senior rank may be considered for those who have achieved tenure at another institution.
