Counselor and Accessibility Services Coordinator
North Carolina Wesleyan University seeks a motivated individual to serve as Counselor and Accessibility Services Coordinator in our Student Affairs program. The Counselor provides basic mental health counseling to students and consultation to University administration regarding student mental health issues.
The Accessibility Services Coordinator works with students, faculty and staff to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and create accessible and inclusive living and learning environments. This 12-month position also conducts intake and crisis assessments, serves on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), arranges for student accommodations and provides educational programs and materials for students, faculty and staff.
Qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
- Minimum of three years counseling experience (experience with university students and/or young adults strongly preferred); and
- Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and their applicability in the residential higher education setting.

Graduate Admissions Counselor – Executive Programs
North Carolina Wesleyan University is a four-year, Liberal Arts University located in Rocky Mount, NC. We are inviting applications for a full-time Graduate Admissions Counselor – Executive Programs for our Adult & Professional Studies Department. The position will work remotely and candidates must be reside in NC.
Summary
The Graduate Admissions Counselor – Executive Graduate Programs is responsible for the full-cycle recruitment and enrollment of graduate students, with a specialized focus on international applicants. This role involves developing and implementing recruitment strategies, providing expert guidance on program requirements and immigration procedures, managing the application process, evaluating credentials, and delivering exceptional customer service. The counselor will work to achieve graduate enrollment goals by conducting outreach, managing inquiries, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a positive experience for all prospective students.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Graduate Student Recruitment:
- Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to attract qualified graduate applicants.
- Conduct comprehensive information sessions and presentations (both virtual and in-person) for prospective graduate students.
- Represent the university at graduate recruitment events, conferences, and fairs.
- Build and maintain relationships with academic departments and faculty to ensure alignment with program goals.
- Analyze recruitment data to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
International Student Admissions:
- Provide guidance and support to international applicants regarding visa requirements, English language proficiency, and credential evaluation.
- Manage the international application process, including the review and evaluation of foreign transcripts and credentials.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with international partner institutions and organizations.
- Provide collaborative support to the Graduate Advisor/DSO in navigating visa requirements and ensuring adherence to compliance standards
Application Processing and Evaluation:
- Manage the complete application lifecycle, from initial inquiry to enrollment.
- Evaluate graduate applications for completeness, eligibility, and academic merit.
- Coordinate with faculty and academic departments to facilitate application review and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date applicant records in the student information system.
- Generate and analyze admissions reports.
Customer Service and Communication:
- Provide exceptional customer service to prospective and admitted students.
- Respond to inquiries promptly and professionally via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Develop and maintain effective communication channels with applicants, faculty, and staff.
- Counsel students regarding admissions decisions and next steps.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with graduate programs and/or international students preferred.
- Knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations related to international students (F-1 visa).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and student information systems (SIS).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel using personal vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CRM systems (J1 preferred).
- Fluency in a second language, prefer Spanish.
- Experience with international credential evaluation.

Graduate Advisor/Designated School Official
North Carolina Wesleyan University is a four-year, Liberal Arts University located in Rocky Mount, NC. We are inviting applications for a full-time Graduate Advisor/Designated School Official for our Adult & Professional Studies Department. The position will be located in Rocky Mount, NC and/or remote work as a possibility.
Summary: Advises executive graduate students on all academic-related areas including, but not limited to, schedule; course planning; institutional policies; academic resources. Ensures compliance with federal regulations governing international students studying on a Visa, serving as institutional DSO representative. Assist in the development of institutional processes; full advisement of prospective and current students; have strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with the public; assist with recruitment and admission efforts as assigned by the Administration. Collection and presentation of data related to executive graduate student enrollment.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Advising:
- Advise and counsel executive graduate students on academic policies and processes, including program requirements, degree completion, academic planning, satisfactory academic progress, academic resources, residency requirements etc.
- Process registrations, student drops, financial aid paperwork, etc.
- Audit files to ensure accurate tracking of credits completed.
- Follow up with advisees on first week drops, complete drop forms.
- Relationship building with students through telephone, email, and face-to-face communication.
- Schedule and meet regularly with advisees.
- Maintain precise, detailed records of all assigned students from orientation to graduation by utilizing current college systems.
- Provide counseling for students working with difficult courses or life challenges that may interrupt degree completion.
- Transfer necessary documents and effectively community with other college departments.
- Assist in identifying issues, challenges and barriers to student success and research potential solutions.
DSO:
- Support international students in the areas of compliance, regulations, and application processes.
- Advise visa students on their specific goals, benefits and restrictions.
- Work closely with Director of International Student Services to ensure compliance and provide support for executive graduate international students.
- Advocate for, serve and support international graduate students as needs arise.
- Collaborate with campus departments concerning international student needs.
- Assist with the scheduling, hotel & travel accommodations and day-to-day tasks related to residency weekends.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Director of ISS.
- Participate in monthly trainings with ISS staff.
- Maintain all reports/records/registration and application processes for graduate F-1 internationals.
Other:
- Assist administration with various advising and operational projects, as assigned.
- Participate in team training, meetings, etc.
- Travel in local/neighboring communities and to NCWC locations.
- Assist in recruiting activities, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
- Experience with and a passion for directly serving students in the higher education setting
- Awareness of evolving global perspectives and intercultural sensitivity
- Ability to organize and multi-task responsibilities, maintain flexibility, communicate effectively, build and maintain relationships
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including limited nights and weekends
- NC Driver’s License
- Previous experience with F-1 visa students preferred

Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach
North Carolina Wesleyan University, a DIII liberal arts university located in Rocky Mount, NC, invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach. This is a full-time, ten-month position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to player development, recruiting, NCAA and USA South rules and regulations, compliance, administrative duties, overseeing the daily operations of the program which include, administration, direction, supervision and leadership of NCAA Division III varsity women’s team.
Supervisor: Director of Athletics
Function: Administration, direction, supervision and leadership of NCAA Division III varsity women’s team.
- Coach intercollegiate sport
- Prepare, control, and operate within your sports budget.
- Schedule competitive contests after approval of the Director of Athletics.
- Recruit prospective student athletes.
- Encourage and promote excellence in academics.
- Order and coordinate athletic equipment for your sport.
- Organize and conduct practice sessions.
- Supervise assistant coach(es) and other auxiliary personnel.
- Counsel and advise team members.
- Engage in public relations activities and promote your sport in the local community.
- Conduct your program within NCAA, USA South and NC Wesleyan policies and guidelines.
- Contract and pay all officials through administrative assistant and Director of Athletics.
- Provide SID office with all publicity material related to your sport.
- Provide academic supervisor and Director of Athletics with all academic information on your team members as requested.
- Conduct your program within the philosophy of intercollegiate athletics at NC Wesleyan as stated in the department manual.
- Self-report any possible NCAA rules violation.
- Participate in annual continuing education programs regarding NCAA rules as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
- Realize that factors such as observance of NCAA rules, academic performance and health and safety of your student-athletes.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
- The recruitment of student athletes is central to program success. Each year specific recruitment goals will be determined in cooperation with the athletic director to assure that sufficient players are recruited to fill the team roster.
- Academic oversight and monitoring of the academic performance for each student athlete is an important aspect of helping students to progress toward degree completion. Activities to support retention are an important part of position responsibilities. A yearly summary report will be made to the athletic director documenting retention initiatives and the retention data of the players.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a minimum of two years of coaching or playing experience at the college level, ability to recruit and evaluate talent, strong organizational and public relations skills. Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics.
