Residency Pathway

North Carolina Wesleyan University’s Residency License Program is designed to assist residency candidates in meeting residency licensure requirements for the state of North Carolina, as defined by the North Carolina State Board of Education and NC Department of Public Instruction. Participants can complete coursework, testing requirements, and the PPAT in as few as three full semesters and two summer sessions, with continuous enrollment. The NC Wesleyan Teacher Education Residency Pathway is designed for an individual who has already earned a bachelor’s or graduate degree but would like to earn their NC Teaching License. To apply, the bachelor’s degree does NOT have to be in an education-specific field.

What Makes Us Different?

We ensure that our Residency candidates receive the same level of rigor, theory, and practice that our traditional students receive. As a result, we have crafted a course sequence that introduces residency students to the same courses, the same level of test preparation, and lab support, while also honoring the fact that they are working adults.

*Note that candidates must fulfill all requirements set forth by NC DPI’s Residency License, specifically in relation to licensure, employment, testing, coursework, etc. Enrollment in North Carolina Wesleyan’s Program does not guarantee employment within a school district or fulfillment of all licensure requirements. Completion of the program does fulfill all licensure requirements.
