Admissions Graduate Assistant
North Carolina Wesleyan University is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Admissions Graduate Assistant.
ELIGIBILITY:
This is a graduate assistant position that is open only to students who have completed their baccalaureate degree and are enrolled full-time in a masters level degree program at North Carolina Wesleyan. Interested applicants must apply to an NCWU graduate program and be pre-registered for full-time enrollment before they will be formally considered for this position. Full-time enrollment consists of registration for at least six credits each academic semester and must begin by no later than the Spring 2025 term. Continuous enrollment in good academic standing is required to maintain this position.
Specific work schedules will be negotiated with the supervisor, but they will not include more than 29 hours of employment (on average) each week.
COMPENSATION INCLUDES:
- A graduate stipend of $500/month throughout the period of employment.
- Remission of tuition and fees for the graduate program in which the student/graduate assistant is enrolled. Tuition remission may be used for 6-12 hours of credit each academic semester.
- Housing on the North Carolina Wesleyan University campus in residence hall space provided for the purpose.
- Access to North Carolina Wesleyan University facilities and services including the health center, library, and exercise spaces during their normal operating hours.
- A board plan to the North Carolina Wesleyan University dining services during such time as those services are in operation as part of our regular meal offerings.
- Please note: This position DOES NOT include health insurance or retirement benefits.
POSITIONS SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant serves as administrative support to the Admissions Processing Coordinator. This position assists with the processing of all documents related to student applications/acceptance as assigned by the Admissions Processing Coordinator.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the processing of all student applications
- Prepare, maintain, and scan/store (digitally or physically) admissions records and provide for the security, confidentiality, and proper destruction of these records
- Obtain student transcripts required for applicant acceptance and enter data into Salesforce
- Assist with the printing and distribution of accepted and deposited letters for each student
- Communicate with candidates by telephone or email to notify students of missing documents
- Assist with the front desk duties as requested
- Adhere to strict confidentiality policies relating to admissions records
- Demonstrate integrity and uphold the values and the mission of the University.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Acceptance to a graduate degree program and active enrollment in graduate classes with NCWU. Enrollment must be continuous during your tenure in this position, and you must maintain good academic standing in your academic program. If you fail to maintain enrollment, employment in this position would be terminated.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional atmosphere in a busy and dynamic environment; clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents including students, faculty, staff, and senior management
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate large amounts of data
- Must be computer literate, self-motivated with the ability to work independently

International Student Services Graduate Assistant
This position provides support for the International Student Services Office. In this role, the graduate assistant will assist the Director of International Student Services in achieving efficient operations; developing and maintaining communication and marketing plans; and will assist with international student events and organizations.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide logistical support for International Student events, including pre-event planning/promotion, event facilitation/supervision, and assessment activities.
- Co-advise International Bishops Association (IBA).
- Assist with planning and managing ISS social media content.
- Coordinate international student transportation (local).
- Participate in strategic planning and goal-setting for International Student Services.
- Drive University student shuttle (weekly) to local retailers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Residence Life Graduate Assistant
This position provides support for Residence Life and Housing operations. In this role, the graduate assistant will provide support for programming and housing operations, assist with desk worker supervision, and positively shape the experiences of the residential community.

Primary Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, inclusive and clean living-learning environment that ensures individual, civic, and social responsibility and accountability.
- Manage operational processes for assigned residence halls including key distribution, facilities issues, health/safety inspections, and room condition reports.
- Supervise student work-study positions in the residence halls.
- Monitor and respond to students of concern and confer with colleagues as appropriate.
- Ensure that residence life and college policies, regulations and procedures are known and upheld.
- Serve in the on-call duty rotation team to respond to calls for assistance.
- Prepare and submit reports upon request.
- Assist with hall/area programming efforts by providing logistical support to professional and para-professional staff.
- Assist with and attend mandatory training programs (summer and winter).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Student Engagement Graduate Assistant
This position provides support for the Director of Student Engagement. In this role, the graduate assistant will assist the Director in achieving efficient operations; developing and maintaining new student events and organizations; managing Student Activities social media platforms, providing operational support for WesQuest and cultivating school pride.

Continuous enrollment in good academic standing is required to maintain this position.
Specific work schedules will be negotiated with the supervisor, but they will not include more than 15 hours of employment (on average) each week.
