Assistant Professor of Chemistry and/or Physical Sciences

North Carolina Wesleyan University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry or Physical Sciences for a 9-month appointment starting in August 2024. The successful candidate’s duties include teaching introductory chemistry, analytical, inorganic, physical chemistry, physics I and II, and other potential courses in their area of expertise. The responsibilities will also include advising undergraduate students, promoting program growth and academic excellence, overseeing student interns, and serving on internal committees. Per the university’s handbook, the normal workload for faculty is 12 credit hours per semester. Faculty members are expected to engage students through traditional and innovative instructional strategies.

Qualifications:
An earned doctoral degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 18 hours of required Physics coursework or a doctoral degree in Physics with a minimum of 18 hours of required Chemistry coursework. Candidates with coursework and professional or teaching experience that justify credentialing in the secondary field may be considered. ABD candidates will be considered but must be on track to complete the Ph.D. by August 2024. Previous college or university-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Assistant Professor of Communication

North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication beginning in August 2024. The ideal candidate will have a specialization in one or more of the following areas: environmental communication, health communication, or intercultural communication. We will look favorably on candidates whose work is interdisciplinary and who can speak to connections between communication and other degree programs at the university including the environmental science, public health, performing arts, corporate communications, marketing, and/or management. A doctoral degree in hand by time of appointment is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. The successful candidate will teach courses in research methods, communication theory, public speaking, and other subjects related to the candidate’s research interests. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching is expected. A regular teaching load at North Carolina Wesleyan is 4/4. Other responsibilities include academic advising, supervising student research projects, and service to the university.

Assistant Professor of Marketing

The School of Business at North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for 9-month tenure track faculty position(s) at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 2024.

Education:
Earned doctorate or ABD in a marketing-related field with broad teaching and research interests in the field of business. Candidates with experience-related credentials that might be deemed equivalent to the terminal degree should inquire before applying. Preference will be given to individuals with evidence of prior university teaching experience and graduate coursework and/or research in any of the following needed subfields: new media, digital marketing, and search engine marketing.

Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic instructor who can offer general courses in marketing, economics, and business as well as advanced courses in their area of expertise. The successful candidate should also be committed to working with undergraduate students, serving as an academic advisor to students in our business management and marketing tracks, and engaging with students to help them secure internships and learn from practical experiences. In addition to a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, the successful candidate should be well-versed in the appropriate use of technology and employing instructional technologies to provide courses through multiple modes of delivery. The successful candidate(s) should also be prepared to contribute to innovative curriculum development, including potential new undergraduate and graduate programs.

North Carolina Wesleyan faculty are expected to develop strong relationships with colleagues, inspire and advise students, and demonstrate a high level of organization and habits of transparent and timely communication. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester, but there are adjustments for faculty members with administrative responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include engaging in scholarship or other appropriate professional activities, remaining current in the field(s) of specialization, and engaging in service to the department, college, and broader community. Assistant Professor of Psychology

North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a nine-month appointment as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology beginning in August 2024. The successful candidate will engage students in teaching introduction to psychology, research methods, and some combination of cognitive, learning, and physiological psychology. Other responsibilities include academic advising, supervising undergraduate research, and service to the university. A doctoral degree is required, but ABD candidates will be considered if their degrees will be complete by the time employment begins. An appointment to a more senior rank is possible for those who have achieved tenure at another institution.
