Perception of Academic Skills Sets in Introductory Biology Courses

For many students, in addition to the heightened complexity of course content, a significant challenge to success in college is the development of essential “soft” skills that facilitate academic achievement. These skills encompass a range of competencies, including the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and the application of effective study strategies.

In this presentation, Emily will share preliminary findings that explore how introductory STEM students perceive their academic success skills across different types of institutions. This presentation will initiate reflection and discussion on how we can better support our students in their academic endeavors.
