Internships at North Carolina Wesleyan University help students transform classroom knowledge into valuable real-world experience. Through hands-on learning opportunities, students can explore career interests, test potential career paths, and gain a deeper understanding of how their academic studies connect to the workplace.

Internships also help students:

• Develop professional and workplace skills
• Identify personal strengths and career goals
• Build confidence in their career decision-making
• Expand professional networks and industry connections
• Gain practical experience that enhances future employment opportunities

Eligibility Requirements

Students may apply for an internship after:

• Completing at least 36 semester hours
• Earning a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
• Meeting any additional internship requirements outlined in the University Catalog

Academic Credit

Students must register for internship credit during the same semester in which the internship is completed. Internship credit cannot be awarded retroactively or applied to a semester before or after the experience.

Students may earn internship credit:

• Within their academic major
• As elective credit designated as INT

For credit-bearing internships, students must complete 45 supervised work hours for each semester credit hour earned.

A maximum of six semester hours of INT credit may be applied toward graduation requirements.
