Students enrolled in the Executive Program take three (3) courses each semester for a total of 7-semester hours. Following the NCWU/APS academic calendar, students enroll in three terms annually: fall, spring and summer.

Each semester includes one, 16-week course (3 credits) and one, 8-week course (3 credits) dedicated to program-specific content. Additionally, students are required to participate in an intensive residency weekend, each term, as part of their coursework. The third course features an Applied Learning Internship (1 credit), allowing students to implement the knowledge from their other two courses in real-world settings through work or internship opportunities.

FORMAT

Due to this flexible course format, students have the option to live across the United States and commute to NCWU for the residency weekends that occur once per semester.

Students should plan for continuous enrollment throughout the program. Taking a semester off is not recommended due to the impact on visa status (I-20 is terminated due to non-enrollment) and the challenge in course availability upon return from a semester off. Students who have extenuating circumstances that require a semester off will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Concentrated Residency (on-campus) Weekend

Each semester, students will be required to participate in an intensive, concentrated residency weekend as part of their coursework. With this unique flexible course format, students have the option to live anywhere in the United States and commute to NC Wesleyan University’s campus for the residency weekends.

Total number of residency weekends are dependent on the program selected and pathway of the program. In the standard pathway, total residency weekend requirements, by program include:

• MBA has 5 residency weekends
• MSITM has 5 residency weekends
• MSSL has 5 residency weekends

Residency/On-campus weekends* are conducted in the Fall (October), Spring (April) and Summer (June), at NCWU’s main campus in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. It is mandatory for students to attend all three days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Requests to arrive late or leave early will not be approved.

Residency Attendance Policy:

Attendance to each Executive Residency weekend is mandatory. Any absence request must be reviewed and approved by the Program Director in collaboration with the Graduate Advisor DSO in advance of a residency session. Students may request to miss no more than one (1) residency session throughout the duration of their academic program.

Each missed session (approved or unapproved) will result in the student completing the absence request form and submitting official documentation, attending a make-up session, and paying a $300 Residency Make-Up fee. Make-Up sessions must be completed prior to the end of the during the scheduled make up session date. Noncompliance with this policy will result in dismissal from the executive program.

The program features a 16-week Applied Learning Internship (1 credit, every semester), allowing students to implement the knowledge from their other coursework in real-world settings through work or internship opportunities. This internship qualifies international students for Curricular Practical Training (CPT).

Internship Requirement

The Executive Programs at NC Wesleyan University are designed with a focus on practical applications. These programs facilitate the immediate use of course concepts in a work place setting. Therefore, all students must enroll in our internship course every term.

Internship and Practicum Requirements

• Mandatory Enrollment: All students must enroll in the practicum internship course every term of their enrollment. This course allows students to apply concepts learned to real-world scenarios.
• Professional Reflection: Every residency course includes a dedicated assignment that requires students to reflect on and implement classroom theories within their professional environments.
• Internship Site Required: Students must have a formal, approved internship site each semester. Official employment is not required, but a formal site is necessary.
• Site Approval and Switching: Students are responsible for securing their own internship sites. They must have a formal internship every semester, and the site must be approved by their academic advisor. Students may switch internship sites each semester.
• Program Connection: The internship position must be connected to the student’s program of study.

Hours and Deadlines

• Required Hours: Students must complete 45 hours, on-site, for each 1-credit internship course.
• Approval Deadline: Internships must be approved and started by the mid-point of a term.
• Consequence of Non-Compliance: Students will be withdrawn from the course if they do not have an approved internship by the mid-point of the term. If withdrawn, students will be out-of-status and withdrawn completely from the program.

Tuition for Executive Residency Graduate Programs is extremely competitive.

• MBA- $550 per credit hour (total of 35)
• MSITM- $550 per credit hour (total of 32)
• MSSL- $550 per credit hour (total of 32)

Additional fees:

• Processing Fee: $500 (applied to tuition)
• Technology Fee: $50 every 8-week session
• Books – varies by program
• Graduation Fee: $125

Payment Plans:
Domestic students can use federally funded loans, privately funded loans or pay out of pocket. To qualify for federally funded loans, students will need to complete the FAFSA application.

International students are required to submit a Certificate of Financial Responsibility, that includes supporting evidence that they have available funding to cover the entire cost of the selected program. International students are not eligible for federally funded loans.
Monthly payment plans are available to all students and must be set up through NCWU’s business office. Detailed information will be provided to each student during the admission process. Students have the ability to wire funds or charge to a credit card.

For students paying out of pocket, the entire semester charges are due in the first week of the semester but no later than the last week of the semester. Students who have a balance on their account, will not be eligible to enroll in courses for the next term. Students who have a balance on their account will have a Business Office hold placed on their account which will prevent them from registering for classes.
